Mixed Media Is My Middle Name

While I enjoy Pinterest and Tumblr a ridiculous amount, nothing compares to the creative fulfillment that comes from grabbing a stack of magazines and a pair of scissors and hunting for inspiration the “old-fashioned” way. I use the images I find in all sorts of magazines, from People to Vogue to Food & Home, as sources to draw upon for my paintings, outfits, home decor, and everything in-between. I decided to document a little bit of my creative process as well as some of my finished works!

I’m always adding new material to my magazine collection…

I can’t even count how many times I’ve been through each magazine or catalogue. Each time I look through I have a different purpose or am in a different frame of mind, which allows me to find something I hadn’t before.

When I’m not sure what I’m looking for, I cut out whatever catches my attention and save it in a big pouch. When I’m stumped, I turn to the collection for inspiration…
